Sallie Mae named one of National Association for Female Executives' 'top companies for executive women'

RESTON, Va., March 18, 2008—Sallie Mae, the nation’s leading saving- and paying-for-college company, today announced that, for the fifth time, it has been recognized by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) as one of America’s Top Companies for Executive Women.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition again from NAFE,” said Joni Reich, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. “We are dedicated to providing a strong and supportive network not only for women, but also for all employees to further develop their leadership style and their contributions to the company and the community.”

The annual survey examined the number of women in each company overall, in senior management, and on its board of directors. To be named to the NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women, companies with a minimum of two women on the Board of Directors completed a comprehensive application that focused on the number of women in senior ranks (compared to men and to the total company population), and that included questions about the programs and policies that support women's advancement.
